Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev described AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi as incompetent and inexperienced person not fit for leading the nation. The supporters of Baba Ramdev and the agitated Congress party workers clashed after this remark and showed black flags to Ramdev and burnt his effigy in protest. Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Deepak Sharma even lodged a police complaint against Ramdev for his statement.
Many minsters in Himachal Pradesh had teamed up against Yoga Guru for this remarks against Rahul Gandhi, as the Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma objected that Ramdev had no right to testify the integrity of any person and said Ramdev should do the 'Yog Kriya' and not try to project himself as political pundit.
Excise and Taxation Minister Prakash Chaudhary with other leaders in a joint statement said that Baba Ramdev's narrow vision of supporting communalism clearly indicates that he was a "fanatic" person who does not believe in secularism and was having a single mindset.
The Congress leaders reminded that Baba Ramdev should not forget that the lease for 28 acres of land given to the Patanjali Yogpeeth trust 2010 by the previous BJP government was cancelled by the present government at Sadhupul in Solan district, because it was given on lease to the trust of Acharya Balkrishan, whose nationality has been in dispute.
They also alleged Baba Ramdev was not a man of principles as he earlier agreed to purchase apple juice concentrate and medicinal herbs from Himachal Pradesh but did nothing concrete in this direction except alluring people.
