The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind , an influential Islamic organisation (on the heels of what the MHA Shinde had ordered this week) has demanded that the UPA government take immediate action to release innocent Muslim youths arrested in “false and concocted” terror cases.
Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, recently in his letter to chief secretaries of all states, wrote that "the Central government has received several representations alleging harassment of innocent Muslim youth by law enforcement agencies. Some of the minority youths have started feeling that they are deliberately targeted and deprived of their rights".
Incidentally, this is not the first time the MHA has selectively highlighted the "harassment" of Muslims, a big question mark was raised on the role of German Bakery blasts convict Himayat Baig in the 2010 attack, after the recently arrested Indian Mujahideen mastermind Yasin Bhatkal denied Baig's link to the attack.
How Shinde accuses that his own investigating agencies were wrong, on the version of a mastermind terrorist ? Have MHA solved the case and caught the culprits ? If not why he is demoralising the officers, and obstructing the working of the large investigating agencies in whole of India ? Do Shinde certify that even such selective rebuttal will help resolution of so many terror case pending before the same investigating wings ?
JIH has also demanded criminal proceedings should be initiated against the police and intelligence officers who made illegal detentions on the pretext of fighting terror.( Why Shinde should not be accused for creating fear in the minds of the officers of such agencies with promoting such demands ? )
The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Rajasthan unit president Hussain said, the Union government, took 10 years to realise that there was substantial amount of truth in the matter, which has been continuously raised by human rights groups, victims’ families and even some Members of Parliament.
India Honest : raises a question on the integrity of the MHA Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. What if what you have advised to the states is a genuine problem running for ten years as stated ? If yes ? Then why he neglected the future of the Muslim youth for such a long period of ten years ? The minority victims wants an legitimate answer to their allegation as they accuse : “The career and youth of innocent persons is destroyed in the long years of their incarceration, after which they are acquitted. The government needs to fix responsibility for this.”
If there is no sufficient truth in this blame ? Than it proves that your this stricture just one month ahead of Assembly election is part of Congress vote game plan. But how a constitutional position holder like MHA , the minister Shinde can issue a statement ,which have international ramification ? Why this poll time gimmick should not be treated as an antinational act ?
Further by accusing your own investigating agencies,you are obstructing their work, by morally letting them down with your aceptance that such things are possible in large numbers.
Shinde as a minister of MHA must be genuine and transparent to the concerns of the minorities, while in effect should not promote the spread of anti national and terror activities.
JIH accused further that large number of these youths have been made accused in terror crimes at a number of places. With thousands of witnesses, mainly police and intelligence officers, yet to depose against them, the judicial process would not be completed in their lifetime.
