"Only 2.2% Complete Graduation, While Only 1.4 % of Muslim Women Do So."

Many of the myths about the Mashiha party of the minorities, the Congress and the status of Muslim's in a Congress ruled state Maharashtra, has been torn open by the committee headed by retired civil servant Mehmood ur Rehman, who headed a committee of social scientists which was set up five years ago to study the educational, social and economic backwardness of the Muslim population in the state.

The reports should have opened the eyes of many, specially the Muslims themselves, who thought they are well off in a Congress ruled state in comparison to a Modi led state of Gujarat.

Moreover their (minorities/Muslims) social and economic condition has not improved even after so much hue and cry of so many reservations, benefit schemes and financial provisions made , as the data, when related to a single community is considered in comparison to others . As much as 60% of the urban as well the rural Muslim population fall in the below poverty line (BPL) category, while another 25% of the community was living just barely above the BPL mark .

According to the findings, while 70% of the Muslims were centred in urban areas, and facing a major problem of housing. The remaining 30% in the rural areas did not have satisfactory access to various poverty alleviation programmes of both the central and state governments.

"Only 2.2% complete graduation, while only 1.4 % of Muslim women do so.“The overall work participation rate among the Muslims is 32.4% and the women work participation is only 12 %.”

It also mentioned the low representation enjoyed by Muslims in government jobs at various levels and the committee suggested a ban on the practice of ‘arbitrary’ talaaq (divorce) and making alimony compulsory to the divorced woman.

The report, though it took five years to complete is already submitted, just on the corner of state and central elections, when the minority appeasement high decible announcement will start playing their role. More charter of demands will be made , more meetings will be organised, more benefit schemes will be announced in the election rallies, more negotiations will be made with religious and political leaders and higher coverage on print and television will be made showing concern for the plight of the ever increasing numbers of minority population numbers in chart.

INDIA HONEST observes : Neither the adamant and greedy  Rahamnuas nor the political benefactors will ever allow to touch the burning needle of distress among the (Muslim) minorities , as the non changing attitude towards education and on controlling steps for a healthy population, will be ever studied, discussed, promoted and applied................as the rising numbers of their favourable vote bank, helps many of the so called secular political to survive in election.
