Home ministry sources said that as per the information given to interrogators by IM operative Asadullah Akhtar, "The terrorists may try to carry out shoot-and-scoot operation against top Muslim leaders and anti-Terrorism Squad chief Rakesh Maria for his role in arresting IM operatives from Pune in 2008.The information was given to interrogators by IM operative Asadullah Akhtar, who was arrested along with IM co-founder Yasin Bhatkal from the India-Nepal border this September.
Incidentally IM co-founder Yasin Bhatkal had made question mark on the role of Himayat Baig,who was convicted for the German Bakery 2010 blasts. convict after the Indian Mujahideen mastermind Yasin Bhatkal denied Baig's link to the attack.
The confession about Himayat Baig by the IM co-founder Yasin Bhatkal had made huge noise bigger than the Digi sir's howling (calling the encounter fake) on the Batala House police encounter.
Only last week the Union home minister Sushil kumar Shinde, has selectively highlighted the "harassment" of Muslims, and posted instructions to the chief secretaries of all the states and UTs explaining that "the Central government has received several representations alleging harassment of innocent Muslim youth by law enforcement agencies, so as to ensure that no innocent "Muslim youth" is wrongfully detained in the name of terror".
How Mr. Shinde confirmed that his own investigating agencies were wrong, only on the version of a "mastermind terrorist" ? Has Mr. Shinde solved the cases and caught the culprits ? If not why MHA is demoralising the working of the large investigating agencies in whole of India? Do Shinde hope that selective rebuttal will help resolution of so many terror case as seen in the above GB case and hundreds of those are pending before the same investigating wings .
The same MHA has reported now that the Indian Mujahideen had made plans to kill several top Muslim leaders in the country for their pro-government stance. The homegrown terror outfit's target list include Dr Shahid Badr Falahi, a former national president of SIMI due to his differences with jailed SIMI leader Safdar Nagori.
Another name that IM's threat list is Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, who is also associated with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. Lucknow-based Sadiq has often come under attack for his efforts to spread modern education among moderate Muslims.
** India Honest warns the provocative and biased Congress leaders like the Digi sir and negligent MHA minister Shinde,is preparing the ground for the Taliban to make a check on Indian soil, by the casual political leaders' acts and statements on "harassment" of Muslims, only for their vote bank politics, and to stop the spread of modern education among Muslims.
Others on the list include moderate Muslim leaders like, Arshad Madani, a Rajya Sabha MP of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, and his nephew Maulana Mahmood Madani, the general secretary of Jamiat-Ulema Hind.
The home ministry sources confirmed, "We are still trying to understand the threat to these Muslims leaders and what could be the reasons to attack them besides the fact that they are seen as pro-government".
