Airbus is much keen to participate in 'Make in India', and it's interest was expressed by Bernhard Gerwert, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, when he called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. European major Airbus on Tuesday expressed its keen interest in participating in 'Make in India' programme in the area of defence and space. Gerwert told Modi that Airbus was keenly interested in becoming a partner in the 'Make in India' initiative, through a cluster approach with regional partners, according to a PMO statement. The Prime Minister welcomed the interest shown by Airbus in India, it added.

In another crucial development Mahindra Group bags multi-million dollar aerospace deal with Airbus, giving a big boost to prime minister Narendra Modi's Make in India initiative . Airbus Group announced to award aero-components production contract to Mahindra Group .
The contract has been awarded to Mahindra Group subsidiary, Mahindra Aerospace by an Airbus Group company, Premium AEROTEC of Germany. A release from the company said, "The multi-year contract envisages the manufacture and supply by Mahindra of a variety of metallic components that will be fitted into several Airbus aircraft programs as part of assemblies produced by Premium AEROTEC,".
The release added that Mahindra Aerospace's deliverables under this contract will be in excess of a million parts per annum. The parts will be produced at the new Mahindra Aerostructures facility located at Narsapura, near Bengaluru, India. Deliveries to Premium AEROTEC's facilities in Germany are scheduled to commence this year, release further said.
Announcing the contract award during the 2015 Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, senior representatives of the Airbus and Mahindra groups mentioned that this contract is aligned with the Indian Government's 'Make in India' initiative and validates the two Groups' commitment to accelerate India's participation in the global aerospace industry while simultaneously creating high-growth opportunities within India's burgeoning aerospace and defense eco-system.
