Religion doesn't Hurt Anything, it is How the Sick Minds Translate it, that Hurts.

Malay Dwivedi

Anand Tiwary

Pawan Kumar Gupta :

    • Noelle Elisabetta Andersdatter   That's all fine, but quit pretending that a world    without    religion   will   be
    • some fantasmical utopian paradise where nobody finds reasons to do all of those things.
  • Kristijonas Jankauskas As a reply to this, two words: fascism and communism. Both atheistic ideologies, both killed many millions of people. Religion, spirituality, are not intrinsically bad/evil/destructive. Look at daoism, buddhism, sikhism, confucianism, hinduism - all nearly immaculate religions. Problem is, some religions are misinterpreted. For example Jesus taught us that we are all sons of God. Yet, many misinterpreted his message by bringing him on pedestal - creating a hierarchy in a teaching that taught against it (Jesus fought against pharisees). So it is actually the down-to-earth, politicizing and pragmatic nature of man that made some religions as tools for atrocities - through misinterpretation. I'm not saying 100% of teachings and religions are constructive. In particular, many parts of Koran are destructive. That being said, Koran might itself be a misinterpretation, a failed remake of Christianity. That being said, Islam still has many great parts. Sufism in my opinion is a truly fascinating and touching part of Islam.

Storm Cat Religion doesn't hurt anything. It is the people that translate it in the sick minds that do. The Christians were pretty brutal when they came to killing anyone that did not convert. The genicide of that religion in the Americas and Europe mounted to millions of lives lost. Also the thousands of abortions carried out by priest and nuns against their own beliefs. The torture and burning people alive in the name of god. Just to mention a few things. grin emoticon People are just cruel and want to control those that disagree, religion has been used as a toll for this for years..

Elizabeth Splinter That's not religion.... That's crazy people. If we look at religious teachings....the 10 commandments given to Moses, Jesus' teachings on how to love one another....it's all good. People can misinterpret and radicalize anything. The world needs religion....any and all religions - that focus on loving God, loving your neighbour and loving yourself. The problem is not religion. It's people.

Vide Veritas I'm not the biggest fan of religion but people do all of those things, not religion, it can't as it is just an idea a grouping ideologies. People give religion power. It is people using any means they can to execute their agenda that creates these issues. It tends to happen in religions, governments and other large communities as they all fear monger as a means of controlling large bodies of people.
