Tapan Ghosh : Blockade at Raja Bazar : Madrassa students throw challenge to West Bengal Administration.Whole North Kolkata totally collapsed. Acid Test of Mamata’s communal harmony.
It is reported that on 2nd August, Railway Police intercepted a group of madrassa students, comprising about 63 teenagers, who were coming from Purnia, Bihar by Katihar Express and were supposed to catch a train from Howrah for Pune, Maharastra. Around 20 students did not have valid documents with them. The group is held at a home at Barasat and communication has been made with parents of those students. Some parents are on the way to Kolkata.
Today, students from a local madrassa along with other Muslims from Raja Bazar & Narkel Danga blocked the main road in front of Sealdah station from 2:30 PM in protest of the interception by the Railway Police. Huge number of Muslims came to the road shouting slogan against the alleged arrest. The blockade is still on and whole North Kolkata has collapsed. Kolkata Police has reached the place but they are not getting enough courage to approach the crowd blocking the road for hours.
