Most appreciable move by the Central Govt. ECONOMIC BASED RESERVATION is finally a reality for IIT students. According to the new rules set by the MHRD, economically poor General and OBC category students whose family salary is less than 5Lakhs per annum now get a massive 66% cut in their annual fees.
Massive courage shown by the govt to apply some reservation benefits to the General and OBC category which all previous govt. have blissfully ignored.We have criticized the govt for its inaction in the past, but now we should also commend their actions in this case. Well done govt, finally we have someone how hears our voice.
It has been rumored that Smriti Irani has increased the fee of general students but in our view she is the first lady who gave reservation on the bases of economic condition of the family. She has completely waved off the fees of all the students, including generals, whose family doesn’t earn more than 1lakh a year. Uptill now those general students were paying 90,000 a year.
She has given a 66% wave off to the general students,along with OBC students, whose family earns between 1 Lakh to 5 Lakh annually. Now the student , including general, has to play 68,000 instead of 90,000 INR annually. And moreover the fees of General and OBC both will be same whose family is earning more than 5 lakhs a year. Isn’t it a good start? But it is media which is giving squid information. They just misinformed us that fee has been doubled but never told doubled on the basis of economic conditions...............Bimal Kumar
