The poisonous secular silence upon brutal rape and murder of a Kerala Hindu Dalit woman speaks volumes.
On the 28th of April, 2016, a poor Dalit law student of 30 years named Jisha was brutally raped and murdered in the town of Perumbavoor.
Her post-mortem report confirmed that she was subjected to brutal torture and rape as there were 38 wounds on her body. There were signs ofstrangulation, smothering and 13 injuries on the woman's neck, chest and at several other places of the body. Some reports had said there were around 20 injuries and that her intestines were spilled out.
The brutality of this case naturally led the people to compare it with the infamous Nirbhaya case of the year 2012. Still, something was very mysteriously missing. And that was the all pervasive voice of the so-called Liberal Dalit Activists and Feminists who raised a mammoth hue and cry upon Rohith Vemula's suicide a few months back.
And, when the Kerala Police arrested the accused suspects, the mystery got solved.
Names of the three accused are: Rasheed, Shaiju and Shafeer
Allegedly, Shaiju introduced himself as 'Sujith' to the victim before befriending her and trapping her emotionally in what is popularly termed by few as an act of 'Love Jihad'.
They gang-raped the woman in a moving vehicle in Varkala (Kerala).
