Eminent scientist CNR Rao,who was awarded Bharat Ratna along with Sachin Tendulkar called politicians “idiots” for giving scientists “so little”.Scientist CNR Rao,who is the chairman of the prime minister’s scientific advisory council, stressed the need for providing more resources for research.
Referring to the “inadequate” government funding to the scientific community,he said, “Why the hell have these idiots (politicians) given so little to us despite what we have done. For the money that the government has given us we have done much more,” .
Rao, who was unhappy with the progress India has made when compared to China saying Indians are complacent, said, “Indian researchers need to work harder; we don’t work as hard as the Chinese".
He argued,“India is the worst. China is doing exascale and petascale computing. I am fighting with the government to invest money in computing,” and added,"Starting next year, China will top the world with 16.5% of world research publications, overtaking even the US. The quantity of publication of research papers from India have remained at 2-3%,” .
Eminent scientist CNR Rao was also unhappy with private players over the focus given to the IT sector in top IT state of Karnataka and complained, “The state is not doing well as our people are unfortunately going behind the money in IT sector. The IT sector has a whole bunch of unhappy people working in it,” .
INDIA HONEST deplores the present sad state of affairs as one most dismal/stagnant status, when in the past, the proud position of "Indian Science &Research", which was regarded one of the best and respected in various world research forum all over including the US, including their top research agency NASA, which had many Indians contributing in their research.
India respected world over for its scientist contributing in all the fields of science and research including medicine, technology, computer, space and engineering, but that position has gone down from the prime position, only due to casual approach of present prime minister Manmohan Singh's government, which have very little time for and taste of Indian proud.
