The shame has been extended to Congress high command, for not awarding the award to BJP leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, when many of the political leaders from all parties have criticised Congress for not giving the award to him ahead of others.
Union minister Farooq Abdullah backed the BJP in its campaign for Mr Vajpayee's Bharat Ratna. Mr Abdullah, whose National Conference (NC) participated in the NDA's ruling coalition said, "I appeal to the Government to give the Bharat Ratna now finally to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji," .
He also openly criticised Congress leadership for this, while reminding that even Pandit Nehru has praised the young Atalji and predicted that one day he will become the best prime minister of India ,a prediction made nearly fifty years back.
Bajpayeeji has undiminished respect all over world and India, among them is the BJP's new rival, Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Chief Minister, who said, "I think Atalji should get it (the award)," .
Most of the leaders irrespective of their political affiliation, even many Congressmen are opening up to criticise the Congress for their mockery of not awarding the award to Atalji and the hockey Jadugar Major, but alas the mood of Congress president Sonia Gandhi is still against it, just not to give political mileage to BJP, to whom the charismatic and patriot leader Vajpayeeji belongs to.
INDIA HONEST strongly believes that, it will be before long, the Congress President will be able to realise the wrong and will be forced to retreat and reconsider the decision of holding the award from Vajpayeeji.
