The UPA government brought back an amended version of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011 to Rajya Sabha, almost two years after its earlier version was passed by Lok Sabha. But people smelled of a bigger conspiracy between the Congress and all time green ally Samajwadi Party, that was seen as when the Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy moved the amended Bill, MPs belonging to the SP (which supports the government from outside) trooped into the Well and started raising slogans, asserting that the party would not support the legislation in the current form as it would lead to "police raj",and didn't allow any debate on the Bill.
Congress is in spot over the huge corruption allegations in UPA2, so much that the present UPA government led by Congress, was forced to move the bill in the fag end of winter secession, becoming increasingly afraid of possibility of being completely routed in the next general election, for the blame on the party's avoiding tactics by manoeuvring acts of one or other design duly helped by its allies, just to block anti corruption bills like Jan Lokpal bill and other measures including not allowing complete autonomy to CBI.
To curtail the chances of bill getting delayed further, the BJP had already declared its support for the Bill, provided the government accepted all the recommendations of the Select Committee in Toto. But the Congress ally from outside SP remained adamant and demanded a discussion on the issue of price rise first, saying it is an issue of public importance that needs to be addressed first.
The Samajwadi Party possibly in consultation with Congress, has hinted its hidden agenda, when it announced that it would back a no-confidence motion against UPA to protest against the government move to bring the Lokpal bill for passage.
INDIA HONEST is utmost astonished and surprised with the fresh offensives from Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had earlier closely worked in understanding with Congress in UPA-2 . Why than SP chose to obstruct the bill at the last moment ? More astonishing was the behaviour of veteran chairperson of the Rajya Sabha Mr. Ansari, who remained adamant that the bill cannot be passed in din. There are one hundred instances , when readout bills are passed in much bigger din in both houses of the parliament with the voice vote, why this was not done this time ? Do people still fails to understand the intention of Congress ?
