Sonia Gandhi led Congress party has been following the policy of intimidating its political opponents by misusing the investigating agencies under its control during UPA 1 & 2 rule. While many CBI cases against the political leaders Mayawati, Mulayam Singh,Amit Shah and Jagan are few illustration of such cases, but the extreme distaste was illustrated by it when the Congress-led UPA government delivered Ahmedabad-based Adani Group a farewell shocks by slapping a Rs.5,500crore show cause notice in a case of alleged “overvaluation“ of imported equipment for power projects only on the day they got to know of their huge defeat in the election .
It is worth mentioning Rahul Gandhi has fought the election on corruption plank accusing his political rival and Gujarat CM Modi of giving favour to Adani group , by giving land at cheap rates, which was denied by Modi as confirmed by the Supreme Court , praising Gujarat's land policy as the most transparent and best among all Indian states.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, during his stump speeches, repeatedly attacked the Gujarat-based corporate and its head Gautam Adani for “links“ to Narendra Modi, alleging that Adani got land from his government in Gujarat for the “price of a toffee“.
The group issued several clarifications stating that apart from the Gujarat government, which gave it barren land to develop, the corporate house also got land by three state governments run by different political parties, including the Congress, since 1993.
The Mumbai office of Directorate Revenue of Intelligence issued the notice to Adani on Thursday relating to cancel import duty benefits issued to the group in only ten years back in 2004. An Adani spokesperson refused to comment on the issue.A Department of Revenue Intelligence official said: “The report filed in December last year states that more than Rs 2000 crore has been over-invoiced against the value of imports by various firms of Adani group.“
