A NaMo step in right Direction to End the Breakdown of Confidence among the Bureaucracy .

Presenting one sample of his out of box style of functioning, the PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday made his first direct interaction with some 72 secretaries who head the bureaucracy in various ministries and assured them of protection against malicious prosecution for bonafide decisions, saying secretaries to the government can approach him or mail him directly with inputs and ideas on any issue for deciding matters quickly .

At his first direct interaction with some 72 secretaries who head the bureaucracy in various ministries on Wednesday , the message from Modi was clear: Top officers must take their leadership role seriously and be decisive to make things happen quickly and improve governance.

Modi set an informal tone for the meeting, starting with a free seating plan around a square table running along the hall and by raising the status bar level of understanding, friendship and cooperation on equal term,he put the top bureaucrats at ease by walking up to each official to shake hands by calling many by their names. This unique gesture, far away from the usual style helped to break the ice to a pleasant mutual understanding .

PM Narendra Modi, by his action showed that he is basically a “team player“,and in accordance he asked the secretaries to build their teams and lead from the front by focusing on issues of governance. He boldly referred to the fact of demoralisation in the bureaucracy and unequivocally told the officials that their “10year fatigue will end... now you will enjoy working... you all are talented people.“

Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the hearts of many by quoting former home secretary P C Sethi that “politicians should learn to say no, while bureaucrats should learn to say yes“ to drive home the point that they must take decisions without fear or favour and added a great message, “Work for the people, not for the PM,“ .

Another message that highlighted Modi's style of transparent and decisive style of governance he asked to simplify procedures and cut paperwork by weeding out “outdated and archaic rules, which, instead of serving the process of governance, are leading to unnecessary confusion“ and suggested the secretaries to make a beginning with cleaning up of offices to “improve the workplace, which would automatically improve work culture“.

INDIA HONEST  welcomes the bold and intuitive approach of the PM  Narendra Modi to set a fresh work culture among the members of his Secretariat, where everyone is to be a team man, working with full confidence and working  in a transparent style of decisive and result oriented governance and that is objected to "for the people" of India, who are eagerly  awaiting with folded hands and open eyes in the hope of a new and prosperous future for all of them and and for our proud nation, as a return for their positive mandate on Namo in this election .
