INDIA GOES AFTER THE KILLERS: Following a nod from Prime Minister Modi, Indian Army's elite para commandos have carried out a surgical strike in a hot pursuit across the Myanmar border killing two groups of millitants across the contiguous border along Nagaland and Manipur. Acting on an specific intelligence, New Delhi gave Indian Armed forces a go ahead to conduct the cross border operation.

                       

In a operation that started this morning, MI 17 helicopters of Indian Air Force were used to drop commandos of 21 Para, who in a six hour operation wiped out close to 50 millitants of KYKL faction of Meitei group and Khaplang faction of NSCN who were operating from Myanmar. Indian Army confirmed that all the terror camps were destroyed and commandos were safely extricated back to the Indian side. This is the first time in the recent past that Indian Army has crossed an international border on a shoot to kill mission. The Army on Tuesday hit back at the militants involved in the Manipur ambush last week that claimed the lives of 18 soldiers. In a press conference, Additional Director General, Military Operations, Maj Gen. Ranbir Singh said, “We today inflicted significant casualties on militants along Indo-Myanmar border who were involved in Manipur ambush recently.”



The attacks were carried out in coordination with Myanmar following specific intelligence inputs of more attacks being planned, said Singh.

“This morning, the Indian Army engaged two different groups of militants, along the Indo-Myanmar border at two different locations along the Nagaland and Manipur border,” he said.
“We are in communication with the Myanmar authorities and we have traditionally had very good and close relationship with the Myanmar Army. We look forward to working with them in combating terrorism in future too,” he added.
