With the past history of CBI investigation for last so many months being so dismal, should we hope something concrete to be revealed by the investigating agency in its submission to the Supreme Court on 22nd October ?
The Supreme Court is monitoring the probe in the coal block allocation scam to "restore the larger public interest and confidence of the people into the case of this magnitude". The court is scrutinising coal block allocation since 1993 on three PILs seeking cancellation of blocks on the ground that rules were flouted in giving away the natural resources and that certain companies were favoured in this process.
CBI is supposed to file its status report in the coal scam before the Supreme Court ,stating details of its 14th FIR against Hindalco and others and also the progress in the remaining 13 earlier cases, by giving the details of FIR filed against Aditya Birla group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Hindalco and former coal secretary PC Parakh.
Previously CBI has registered FIRs for the alleged graft in allocation of coal blocks in which Jindal Steel and Power, Rathi Steel and Power Ltd,AMR Iron and Steel, Green Infrastructure, Kamal Sponge, Pushp Steel, JLD Yavatmal Energy, Vini Iron and Steel Udyog, JAS Infrastructure Capital Pvt Ltd, Vikash Metals, Grace Industries, Gagan Sponge, Jharkhand Ispat, and now Hindalco have been named as accused.
But with the central election not far away as in 2014, there few important concluding points :
A) In case any adverse verdict in the scam by Supreme Court is expected, and will that be vital to effect the result of the election ? Any logical assumption about the verdict will prompt the ruling junta to delay it's outcome .
B) With vital information in control of coal ministry, either passed to CBI or still to be passed, will not the Congress party be more worried, when there are chances that the ruling coalition may change in 2014.
C) When and how early the dust of the scam is settled, vital for power and iron industries or rather for the revival of the whole Indian economy.
INDIA HONEST warns this inordinate delay in resolving the scam has already pushed the nation back by several years, do we afford more ?
