How national traitor DGP R B Sreekumar was rewarded by Congress ?

Sreekumar had earlier fabricated the ISRO spy case of 1994 which he had probed while on deputation with the Intelligence Bureau. In that fabricated spy case, one "patriotic" scientist Nambi Narayan, who was charged as suspect in that case, was branded as a traitor. Sreekumar during his 50-day incarceration continuously ill-treated and tortured him. This resulted in irreparable loss and humiliation to respectable scientists of ISRO and others, created huge criticism nationwide.

As confirmed later on the spy case was a fabricated to demoralise the prestigious ISRO programme and halt the scientific advancement of India in space technology, Sreekumar was charged on nine counts that included gross illegality of :

a) not preparing a written statement of interrogation of Narayanan,
b) leaving the interrogation statements unsigned and undated and
c) failing to conduct verification about the veracity of the statements of the accused persons as recorded by the team of IB officers without assigning any reasons.

The newly elected Congress government in 2004 is alleged of making a deal and dramatically, made a complete u-turn, when the Home Ministry dropped seven of the nine charges against Sreekumar "without any inquiry".He was also given a clean chit by the UPA government, in return for this,as the BJP party alleged, he launched a tirade against the Modi government when he was posted back to his parent cadre, Gujarat.

BJP further alleged that former Gujarat DGP R B Sreekumar levelled charges of fake encounters against the Narendra Modi's government as a quid pro quo for the UPA dispensation giving him a clean chit in ISRO spy case "fabricated" by him.

BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi played an audio CD of a telephone conversation allegedly between Rais Khan, a close aide of activist- lawyer Teesta Setalvad, and Sreekumar to "prove" that the IPS officer and Setalvad were working in tandem to target the Modi government. In the recording, Sreekumar purportedly says, "Teesta helped me when the charge sheet (on fake encounters) was given to me."

IH suspects the UPA has misused all the investigating agencies including that of Income Tax department to the maximum to falsely trap its political opponents.
