Why Sonia Gandhi Choose to Categorise the Election as "Communal" Hindus vs. "Secular" Muslims ?

The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, after his meeting with Sonia Gandhi this Tuesday said, “But at a time when communal forces are waiting… we (Muslims) should support secular forces.”

Several leaders and groups claiming to have Muslim interests at heart have been making quiet but determined moves to ensure that “good, non-BJP candidates” come in large numbers and prevent a situation where an RSS-influenced government comes to power.

Moreover a deep analysis of few of the statements (as below) raise a question that if Shahi Imam is intending to project the minorities as staunch religious group politicised more on the style of Taliban or Iran's Ayatollahs in India .

As reported, {"The imam went on to say the SP has disappointed Muslims and “despite a press conference with me promising appropriate representation for Muslims, has failed them”. “And are laptops solving problems? The difference between Gujarat and Muzaffarnagar is only the number of dead. This SP government should be taught a lesson as it’s a failed government which is anti-Muslim.”

"On the BSP, he said, “ After Muzaffarnagar, why has she (Mayawati) been unable to answer why she has not gone there?… I fear that for power, Mayawati can go anywhere, though Mamata Banerjee has assured me she won’t go to the NDA."

"He termed the AAP a ‘khel’ of the “RSS and Israel, in order to further divide the community” He spoke of how “communalism is a much bigger issue than corruption, as communalism actually breaks countries. Why has Kejriwal not spoken on Muzaffarnagar or the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat? He is funded by Israel…” }

Another community leader, Syed Shahabuddin, convener of the Joint Committee of Muslim Organisations for Empowerment, (which held an “urgent meeting” on March 17), sent out a communication Tuesday on voting. It stressed the need of the hour is to consolidate votes of all deprived sections, including Muslims.

The committee has taken the line that Muslims must ensure a secular government as vital not just to Muslims but to all backward and disadvantaged sections and act as a group with them.

INDIA HONEST  argues, that very little room has been left open by the remark made by Sonia Gandhi categorising the Muslims as secular while those Hindus (if they are supporting NDA) as communal .

Will not these acts promote a clear division between the majority and minorities communities on a political polarised line of Muslims for Congress and Hindus as supporters of communal BJP ? Time will tell, if hurts deep to Congress .

The question now must be asked if Congress is doing any favour to the nation by projecting the Hindus as communal, while infesting fear among Muslims against BJP ? Will not there be a India left after the election to be taken care by any party winning the election ?

What will be the shape and health of that India if the communities are so crudely divided for winning election ? How it is different from the policy adopted by the British rulers to divide India and stay ruling ?

This election is dangerously poised to become more communal, when the frustrated parties are opting to use all the nasty tricks in their books, even raising the hatred among the communities to a undesired provocative level.

It is never late , the EC must intervene and the civilised people must force the political leaders to ensure sanity in their attempts. The communal bar raised against a particular community (Hindus) on their voting for a particular party BJP, will ultimately speed up greater polarisation, and that will be bigger disadvantage to Congress even worst for the survival of the Congress,as now it will no more be treated as secular one .
