Tapan Ghosh : Reports of several incidents regarding desecration of Maa Durga's idol are coming from different areas of the State. In the most cases, when reported, police is apathetic to catch the perpetrators and advising the complainants to disturb communal harmony.
Last night, idols of Ganesha, Laxmi, Sarawati & Kartik were thrashed at Sodepur under Pursura PS in the district of Hooghly. Hindus in that area became very furious and they approached police to nab culprits. Surprisingly, police advised them not to make a issue of it and offered them financial assistance. Villagers strongly refused the offer and organized road-block demanding arrest of the culprits. The blockade was withdrawn later after police assured them of arresting the culprits.

In Maharashtra, specially in Mumbai during Ganeshotsava there is Jagarana for whole nights during all ten days. Why leave our sacred idols isolated, to be broken by some shameless culprits? Bring in personal security and more people, ahead during the festivals. Only then our religious belongings like Idols and temples will remain safe. It's really painful to see such photographs. On one side in Mumbai city at some places people are enjoying Dandiya and Raas Garba till midnights time, while on the other hand in Bengal, such disgustful deeds happen. Our Holy Durga Mata is the source of energy and blessings to all of us. Don't rely on government and police administration. Be real men and fight for your rights. Take more care of what belongs to you. I beg you to please do not let any untoward thing happen till Vijaya Dashmi.
