The country’s nuclear power programmes and the revised emission norms for coal-based thermal power plants offered considerable business opportunity for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, its Executive Director S. Gopinath said here on Monday.
With the revised emission norms, the unit stood to derive significant benefit by developing the equipment required to further control nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, he said speaking at the Independence Day celebration at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at the BHEL Township.
Mr. Gopinath took the salute at the ceremonial march past by BHEL Security, National Cadet Corps Home Guards, Traffic Wardens, Fire Services and campus school contingents at the Independence Day parade.
The development of technologies for advanced ultra supercritical boilers and coal gasification was well on course and the Welding Research Institute of BHEL, Tiruchi, was on its way to becoming a world-class enterprise, Mr.Gopinath said.
The successful in-house development of fully-bolted boiler supporting structures which are being supplied for the first time for the North Karanpura and Neyveli projects was a major technological breakthrough that will significantly reduce boiler erection cycle-time and speed up project execution.
