CAG's Controversial Agusta Westland Report Not to be Tabled in Parliament

Being  afraid of chaos and disruption in the Parliament the UPA Govt may not put the CAG's Agusta report on the controversial Rs 3,500 crore Agusta Westland VVIP chopper deal on the table of Parliament. The UPA, which had faced series of unruly Parliament over corruption in the recent past, is in a tricky situation.CBI has already questioned former IAF chief S P Tyagi and his relatives in connection with allegations of over Rs 350 crore bribery, so also the defence minister A K Antony as a possible witness in the case  has been called for by an Italian court .

Though the UPA government has ruled out Antony's appearance in Italian court as a witness, fresh revelations on wrongdoings by the government in the CAG report would raise the opposition tamper, thus jeopardising the chances of smooth functioning of Parliament's important monsoon session. The fate of a series of other reports, ready to be tabled in the monsoon session of Parliament also causing  unease to the UPA, including one important  report on Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority  in which funds to the tune of more than Rs 24,000 crore has accrued but the government has failed to utilise it .in accordance to the  purpose for which it was earmarked.
