MP government had ordered that quotes from the Bhagwad Gita be taught in an order from the school education department,directing that lessons from the Gita would be included in textbooks of Special Hindi from Class 9 to 12 and special English in Class 11 and 12 and added this clause on introducing Gita lessons in madrassas and Urdu medium schools,that sparked a controversy.
This was a confusing diktat, at it is correctly withdrawn in time, as outrage swept across Muslim community over alleged attempts at saffronisation of Islamic institutions. As expected the Congress accused the BJP government of dividing the society along communal lines before elections.
A disturbed Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan backed immediately within a week after issuing the government order by withdrawing the order,but after correctly explaining that, "It's not just the Gita that was proposed to be taught. All religious icons have been given equal respect and space in textbooks, including Prophet Muhammad, Buddha, Mahavira, Christ and Guru Nanak.''
Shivraj Chouhan added,"There has been a controversy that the Gita would be taught in schools of Madhya Pradesh. It's untrue that Gita lessons are mandatory. But to put an end to the controversy, we have decided to recall the order,''.
Moreover the pious teachings of all the religions are almost same, as it supports the promotion of peace, love and tolerance among all the inhabitants of this beautiful world, it is the theme of Gita or Koran or Bible or Guru Granth. Again the teaching of any religious book you understand, accept and follow when your heart and mind take that voluntarily and forced by compulsions.
But this withdrawal order is a prudent decision by a national leader as a Chief Minister in a secular country India, where you have to understand and accept the sentiments of all communities in the nation. Moreover when all the opposition and greedy and power hungry politicians are hell bent on misguiding the innocent minorities on fake plea of suppression, just to divide the weaker section on communal line and deprive them of their basic needs and rights to be proud, equal and dignified Indian citizen.
This game is played again and again by many of the so called secular parties and politicians ( following the British rule of Divide and Rule before independence) just to corner the votes of minority and ditch them of their all other important rights.
