In MNCs (multi national companies), the "top heads" who are showing excellent results are promoted to upper direction step by step, say a country (India) head is promoted to next level as South East Asia head then to Asia Pacific and finally to overall company's head. The rise on such ladder brings huge change in such chief's working style, his overall responsibilities as well as his power and this change also brings an additional risk of remaining alert to not only his own work responsibilities, but more added liabilities for the acts and deeds of all the sub heads under him.
Narendra Modi's elevation to the BJP party's PM candidate post, has pushed him to ride on almost top of the ladder, with much higher degree of responsibilities and under the bigger scanning glasses put on by the whole nation and the media.
Modi's this new journey has been linked to extreme positions ; from a Pracharak to CM of Gujarat for three terms to party's PM candidate ; from a strong Hindutva believer, to a growth and development icon, to bullying nationalist, to a natural believer of social justice and equality .
All this was thrust on Modi, since the day he started nursing the prime ministerial ambition. The rollover gradually changed him to closely warming up to the Muslims at national level and equally drawn to the need of inclusive economic growth on a much bigger platform . So far so good, even the rapprochement on foreign policy by him, has been nicely aligned to his status as the prime minister candidate of main opposition national party.
But the rollover status could not be successfully merged with his die hard loyalists, who in the craze of a probable victory,has played down with his moderate and national image . Here he must have to push a break on the Hindutva fanatics,and has to remain clear from the crony capitalism of an aggressive promoter of businesses, switching his priority to the greater needs of social justice along with inclusive growth for a bigger hinterland of vast India.
Once elevated to the position of the party’s official contender for the top job, Modi remains under sharper scrutiny than earlier and there are chances of possible slippage of facts or uttering of aggressive speech by him or the associates, that may fetch quick rebuttal and hammering from the rival camp, hounding on him .
More indulgence to Gujarat numbers will now start backfiring and give an escape route to UPA for their misdeeds in overall Indian context. Yes it is a fact, now the numbers are meaningless for the lay voter, crushed with inflation and unemployment . The public at large are more eager to hear about the corruptions under the Congress-led UPA’s rule and their hope prospect in Modi's assurance of good governance. This is asking loudly to the enthusiastic Modi loyalist to change the style and tactic from now on and keep the turf green for good batting by Modi .
