Where Deepak Nagpal got it wrong in his judgement on the authority of a Indian PM. working under Sonia's control ? As one finds that even the family of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has to come out in his defence after two recent books critically sought to question his authority as the head of the government .
Dr Manmohan Singh's eldest daughter Upinder Singh slammed Sanjaya Baru, the former adviser to the PM during 2004-09, saying his book 'The Accidental Prime Minister - The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh' was nothing but a “stab in the back…a huge betrayal of trust...(and a) mischievous, unethical exercise”.
She told that Baru's book betrays the trust of the PM as well as the access to Dr Singh that he enjoyed. She also questioned the timing as well as the contents of the book.
“While I am not speaking on behalf of the Prime Minister, we are extremely angry at the exaggerated level of access the author has ascribed to himself. It is an audacious account with so-called quotes, of even the Prime Minister, which have been recorded as facts. Reported speech has been used as direct speech. Is this ethical?’’ she told.
India Honest felt utmost pity at the state of affairs of a Congress PM, who has completed ten years , but no one in Congress leaders is coming out to defend him, rather all are busy to protect the murky deals of Congress Damad Robert Vadra . :):) . The honesty of an renowned economist prime minister has to be defended by her out of politics daughters and wife.
Baru, in his book, claimed that Dr Singh was not the final authority in decision-making and that he had been "defanged" by the Congress in his second term with Congress president Sonia Gandhi deciding on key appointments to the Cabinet and to the PMO.
The PM, Baru says, "seemed to "surrender" to her and to the UPA constituents".
In another book released on Monday, former coal secretary PC Parakh said Manmohan Singh headed a government in which he had “little” political authority.
“By continuing to head a government in which he had little political authority, his image has been seriously dented by 2G scam and Coalgate although he has had a spotless record of personal integrity,” Parakh observed in his book 'Crusader or Conspirator? Coalgate and Other Truths'.
INDIA HONEST wonders why the Congress is annoyed when the same thing as Baru and Parakh said is being repeated by Modi ? As seen in a rally recently, Mr Modi said in contrast to his Gujarat model, the Congress is faithful to "an RSVP model - Rahul, Sonia, Vadra and Priyanka." (In Bihar rally, Narendra Modi's 'RSVP' jibe at the Gandhi family).
INDIA HONEST agrees with the observations and one known fact that Sonia Gandhi was the real head at both the power centres, the Congress party and the government, while Manmohan Singh was simply putting official seal of prime minister on the files .
But the question now arises, in a remote chance if UPA3 comes up, and with naturally Rahul leading that government , hopefully a weaker combination of allies, so their is possibility that Rahul may not agree to the interference of Madam Sonia alike MMS.
If the hypothetical UPA 3 or Third front with Mulayam and Left, ever takes place, it will run a greater risk of rift between Rahul and Sonia in the administration of government, with Rahul toeing a separate line, more akin to the drama of rejecting the cabinet/Sonia approved ordinance as done in past and roaming around Kalawati experiment . Who will and how India will be governed then ? Will the newer Congress party really able to invent and introduce any fresh Robert Vadra model of development ?
