Arnab Goswami confirmed to Sagari, why the title #Presstitute is Justified on them ?

{ From the pen of Arnab Goswami }  On Monday morning, a little before noon, I started my interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first news flashes started getting aired on the channel after 2 pm. By 4 pm we had released the first run of clips and promos, and the first full airing of the interview at 6 pm was a precursor to the super prime time airing of the full episode of Frankly Speaking at 9 pm.

At 9.30 pm that evening, my digital desk told me the interview hashtag #PMspeakstoArnab had crossed 1 billion potential impressions on Twitter. Our friends at Facebook told us they were seeing unprecedented traction, and that the kind of video downloads was greater than a Hollywood blockbuster. Both the global social media giants put out press releases, and our lines were crashing in the newsroom with calls congratulating us for the interview.

Next morning, the Prime Ministers interview dominated the entire national media. I wasn’t surprised at all. After all, from NSG to China, Pakistan to Rajan, Swamy to inflation, 2019 to Uttar Pradesh and the politics of polarisation, rising unemployment to the parliament logjam, the possible passage of GST to the numbers in the Rajya Sabha, black money and the Rs 15 lakh in every bank account promise, the interview had covered it all. And covered it so exhaustively in fact that ignoring the newsiness of the interview by not publishing it ran the risk of missing the big story of the day. And so everyone in the national media, on print, TV and digital followed it. Whether they did so grudgingly or not doesn’t matter.

Next evening, the Chinese government reacted to the interview. And on Wednesday, the Pakistan government through Sartaj Aziz responded to the Prime Ministers charge of dual power centres in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. By this time with about 1.4 billion impressions on twitter, about over a million video views and 10.2 million impressions on Facebook , trending globally for 8 hours on Twitter and making global headlines by being quoted across the world, it was clear this was the biggest interview in terms of reach and impact for at least the last 5 years. It was, simply, massive on a scale we hadn’t imagined.

Last evening, in a social gathering, the editorially inclined proprietor of a newspaper that has run a campaign against the interview came across and congratulated me heartily. He said that this was not just a coup, but an interview that spanned every subject in so much detail that in terms of journalistic impact, it was an inflection point. I of course avoided asking him why it seemed his Lutyens Delhi based editors were reacting as if a calamity had hit them.

For the last ten years, Newshour and Frankly Speaking have defined the news agenda in India. From Lalitgate to CWG, every big news story and expose has broken on the channel. Frankly Speaking has scooped every big interview, from Rahul Gandhi to Mr Modi, and that is because the protagonists and participants know that we attract a far greater viewership than all other channels put together.

For me, working far away from the machinations and intrigue of Lutyens journalism, the collective outrage of Lutyens journalists at the fact that I got the interview is amusing. One of them, a has-been anchor who desperately lobbies for an opportunity to be invited on my Newshour debates, even put out a tweet asking why the prime minister chose to give an interview to me and not hold a press conference. Embarrassed by the angry reactions, she deleted the tweet later. I thought her question was intellectually disjointed. Across the world, the first exclusive interviews are given to anchors and channels who command viewership. Not to those who nobody watches. Period.

Finally, there were some ridiculous questions on my tone. Was I soft? Why didn’t I raise my voice like on Newshour? Why did I keep referring to the Prime Minister as “Mr Prime Minister”? Three answers should silence this industry that obsesses about me. First, I used the same tone with Rahul Gandhi. If this industry is disappointed with how he let them down, its not my problem. Second, Frankly Speaking is an interview and The Newshour is a debate, both are therefore different styles and formats. And finally, “Mr Prime Minister” is the most appropriate reference point when you are speaking to the Prime Minister.

I don’t really need to explain all this. But I have written this down because I want the industry that has nothing to do but write about me to calm down and get composure. Eventually, all of us will be judged by what we do. Not by how elegantly we troll on social media and its satellites.

How for RaGa the Kerala Tragedy and Deaths has become a Political Showoff Opportunity

Kollam Temple Fire: Rahul Gandhi To Visit Kerala

NEW DELHI:  AICC chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said to the media that Rahul Gandhi will visit Kerala today to meet those injured in the fire tragedy and see the relief and rehabilitation operations in the wake of the massive fire at the temple,

Rahul Gandhi on the devastating fire tragedy that claimed more than 100 lives and left over 300 injured, appreciated the "swift and decisive" response of the Kerala government to the incident. "As far as the state government, Chandy ji and others are concerned, we will do whatever is possible. If there is something that is required to be raised in the Parliament at the Central level, we will do that," he said.

The Prime Minister, who arrived at the spot by around 4.10 p.m., took stock of the extent of the damage at the premises of the Puttingal Devi Temple. After having a brief conversation with Mr. Chandy and others including Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, he wound up the visit that lasted around 10 minutes by leaving for the Kollam District Hospital, where several injured were being treated.
He then went to the Ashramam Government Guest House and reviewed the arrangements made by the State government to manage the disaster.
Later, Mr. Chandy told reporters that the Prime Minister had offered to airlift the victims to any hospital of their choice and the government would bear the entire medical expenses. The Centre had also deployed a team of doctors to address the crisis.
Mr. Chandy said that the Centre has announced a relief of Rs. 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.

Suresh Kochattil :  This is the difference between keeping a low profile and hankering for publicity between someone like Modiji and Rahul Gandhi, in the aftermath of a tragedy. These images taken yesterday in Kerala show how Moidiji makes it a point to address just two news channels, ANI and Doordarshan while Rahul Gandhi ensures that ‪#‎Presstitutes‬ are around to give him maximum publicity.
Also look at how Governor Justice (Retd) Sathasivam and BJP State President Kummanan Rajasekharan stand in deference while Modiji speaks. On the other hand, AK Antony, Ramesh Chennithala, VM Sudheeran and Oomen Chandy jostle for position to get into the field of the cameras.

Ashok Jain says .....for few politicians even such tragedy and deaths are political showoff opportunity........sorry we can't change all this till the presstitutes in media are kicked out.

Sajith R Nair : RG...can be compared to the famous character.. Mr.Bean...
                          and Modiji to Modiji alone...

Vamanan Narasimhan :  Difference between real concern and dynastic daftness.

On the Sidelines of Rahul vs Modi Contest

By now it has become a well known fact that the Congress will only be shooting itself in the foot if it lets the election race turn into a one-on-one contest. But they have already committed the mistake in their fierce endeavour to stop the nomination wave of Narendra Modi  in May June this year, by regularly targeting him in all their submission, converting Modi as the single challenger to Rahul Gandhi.

More and more "media" tit bits are thrown as the election comes closer, exposing the change and swing in mood in the tussle between the two heavyweights, that is closely monitored :

Now the Congress party has to change the stance, from communal or secular platform of fight, the war is to be fought on development platform, and here Congress might have to try to debunk Modi’s claims of development like they have argued in the past. The party has repeatedly accused Modi of failing to look beyond Gujarat and being too full of his Gujarat success story. Congress party has been in power for two consecutive terms after having pushing NDA to the door, the Congress can also question Modi and BJP’s efficiency in running a country.

But as and when the poll battle becomes a Modi-Rahul face-off or a Modi-Congress PM hopeful face-off, it will become political suicide for the Congress. Because except Rahul's contribution to the party organisational restructuring, he has nothing else as concrete achievements to show, that he can take a fair claim on.

There is no evidence that Rahul Gandhi  takes active part in policy-making and policy-implementation. Even in the Lok Sabha, while Sonia Gandhi pushed the Food Security Bill with a hasty speech, Rahul Gandhi was seen and heard nowhere. Even outside the House, Rahul’s promotion of the Food Bill has been mostly blank assumptions that don’t stand on facts for support.

Rahul Gandhi's speeches sound more like college union election addresses than something meant to influence the most important polls in the country. Finally, Rahul can’t claim to have run anything with any success. And that clearly makes bigger sense that Rahul will only be doing Congress party a favour by not declaring himself its prime ministerial candidate.

At the same time the youth and development hope juggernaut called Narendra Modi, has gathered momentum needs to be looked at seriously by his opposition, the Congress. To remain in intellectual denial, claiming that Modi has no resonance in the southern states of India or in Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra and the Northeast, will allow him a free run, and not necessarily as the face of the BJP. Thus a fighter and doer Modi will be imagined to take the role of a ‘saviour’.

This time the general elections could well defy the predictable parameters of the national vote. The polls may be an aberration in the sense that the election would not pay any heed to the factors as done in past but swiftly change to new role of youth unconcerned with caste and religion. The media are hysterical in their superficial support of Modi and his rhetoric. ‘Debate’ on talk shows continues to insult the intelligence of viewers, yes  Modi  supporters has deftly used this sub-standard discourse by the ruling party's arrogant spokespersons, to his advantage.
