Arnab Goswami confirmed to Sagari, why the title #Presstitute is Justified on them ?

{ From the pen of Arnab Goswami }  On Monday morning, a little before noon, I started my interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first news flashes started getting aired on the channel after 2 pm. By 4 pm we had released the first run of clips and promos, and the first full airing of the interview at 6 pm was a precursor to the super prime time airing of the full episode of Frankly Speaking at 9 pm.

At 9.30 pm that evening, my digital desk told me the interview hashtag #PMspeakstoArnab had crossed 1 billion potential impressions on Twitter. Our friends at Facebook told us they were seeing unprecedented traction, and that the kind of video downloads was greater than a Hollywood blockbuster. Both the global social media giants put out press releases, and our lines were crashing in the newsroom with calls congratulating us for the interview.

Next morning, the Prime Ministers interview dominated the entire national media. I wasn’t surprised at all. After all, from NSG to China, Pakistan to Rajan, Swamy to inflation, 2019 to Uttar Pradesh and the politics of polarisation, rising unemployment to the parliament logjam, the possible passage of GST to the numbers in the Rajya Sabha, black money and the Rs 15 lakh in every bank account promise, the interview had covered it all. And covered it so exhaustively in fact that ignoring the newsiness of the interview by not publishing it ran the risk of missing the big story of the day. And so everyone in the national media, on print, TV and digital followed it. Whether they did so grudgingly or not doesn’t matter.

Next evening, the Chinese government reacted to the interview. And on Wednesday, the Pakistan government through Sartaj Aziz responded to the Prime Ministers charge of dual power centres in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. By this time with about 1.4 billion impressions on twitter, about over a million video views and 10.2 million impressions on Facebook , trending globally for 8 hours on Twitter and making global headlines by being quoted across the world, it was clear this was the biggest interview in terms of reach and impact for at least the last 5 years. It was, simply, massive on a scale we hadn’t imagined.

Last evening, in a social gathering, the editorially inclined proprietor of a newspaper that has run a campaign against the interview came across and congratulated me heartily. He said that this was not just a coup, but an interview that spanned every subject in so much detail that in terms of journalistic impact, it was an inflection point. I of course avoided asking him why it seemed his Lutyens Delhi based editors were reacting as if a calamity had hit them.

For the last ten years, Newshour and Frankly Speaking have defined the news agenda in India. From Lalitgate to CWG, every big news story and expose has broken on the channel. Frankly Speaking has scooped every big interview, from Rahul Gandhi to Mr Modi, and that is because the protagonists and participants know that we attract a far greater viewership than all other channels put together.

For me, working far away from the machinations and intrigue of Lutyens journalism, the collective outrage of Lutyens journalists at the fact that I got the interview is amusing. One of them, a has-been anchor who desperately lobbies for an opportunity to be invited on my Newshour debates, even put out a tweet asking why the prime minister chose to give an interview to me and not hold a press conference. Embarrassed by the angry reactions, she deleted the tweet later. I thought her question was intellectually disjointed. Across the world, the first exclusive interviews are given to anchors and channels who command viewership. Not to those who nobody watches. Period.

Finally, there were some ridiculous questions on my tone. Was I soft? Why didn’t I raise my voice like on Newshour? Why did I keep referring to the Prime Minister as “Mr Prime Minister”? Three answers should silence this industry that obsesses about me. First, I used the same tone with Rahul Gandhi. If this industry is disappointed with how he let them down, its not my problem. Second, Frankly Speaking is an interview and The Newshour is a debate, both are therefore different styles and formats. And finally, “Mr Prime Minister” is the most appropriate reference point when you are speaking to the Prime Minister.

I don’t really need to explain all this. But I have written this down because I want the industry that has nothing to do but write about me to calm down and get composure. Eventually, all of us will be judged by what we do. Not by how elegantly we troll on social media and its satellites.

Kollam Temple Fire: Rahul Gandhi To Visit Kerala

NEW DELHI:  AICC chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said to the media that Rahul Gandhi will visit Kerala today to meet those injured in the fire tragedy and see the relief and rehabilitation operations in the wake of the massive fire at the temple,

Rahul Gandhi on the devastating fire tragedy that claimed more than 100 lives and left over 300 injured, appreciated the "swift and decisive" response of the Kerala government to the incident. "As far as the state government, Chandy ji and others are concerned, we will do whatever is possible. If there is something that is required to be raised in the Parliament at the Central level, we will do that," he said.

The Prime Minister, who arrived at the spot by around 4.10 p.m., took stock of the extent of the damage at the premises of the Puttingal Devi Temple. After having a brief conversation with Mr. Chandy and others including Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, he wound up the visit that lasted around 10 minutes by leaving for the Kollam District Hospital, where several injured were being treated.
He then went to the Ashramam Government Guest House and reviewed the arrangements made by the State government to manage the disaster.
Later, Mr. Chandy told reporters that the Prime Minister had offered to airlift the victims to any hospital of their choice and the government would bear the entire medical expenses. The Centre had also deployed a team of doctors to address the crisis.
Mr. Chandy said that the Centre has announced a relief of Rs. 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.

Suresh Kochattil :  This is the difference between keeping a low profile and hankering for publicity between someone like Modiji and Rahul Gandhi, in the aftermath of a tragedy. These images taken yesterday in Kerala show how Moidiji makes it a point to address just two news channels, ANI and Doordarshan while Rahul Gandhi ensures that ‪#‎Presstitutes‬ are around to give him maximum publicity.
Also look at how Governor Justice (Retd) Sathasivam and BJP State President Kummanan Rajasekharan stand in deference while Modiji speaks. On the other hand, AK Antony, Ramesh Chennithala, VM Sudheeran and Oomen Chandy jostle for position to get into the field of the cameras.

Would Times Now Drag on the Lalitgate till Start of Monsoon Session ?

Lalit Kumar Modi  ✔@LalitKModi Media owners must realize that they all came to me for favors too. Or to politicians or to my friends.
Would Times Now drag on the Lalitgate for another three weeks? Would Lalitgate in the coming monsoon session of the Parliament  be the biggest ever victory for the Times Group? But what would it cost to the Times?

Insiders reveal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was of the view that a section of  media has been exaggerating facts in Lalit gate with a motive to malign  the image of his government. The PM also feels that Congress has connived with a media outlet in a bid to disrupt the forthcoming monsoon session of the Parliament.

Modi seems to be neither happy with his ‘spin masters’  who failed to contain the high decibel news channels nor he was at ease with the Jains, the owners of the Bennett and Coleman Company which owns Times Now, the most vociferous channel on Lalitgate .

Though Mr Modi has not yet shared his mind over the ongoing controversy with his Cabinet colleagues or top secretaries but his body language has given a clear signal to his lieutenants. According to a close aide of Modi , the Finance Ministry is busy gathering data on owners of two channels- News X and Times Now .

Both the channels have  launched a nonstop media war against  Modi’s Cabinet as well as BJP’s government in Rajasthan. “ BJP leadership including Amit Shah was of the view that on Sushma front  both the channels exaggerated certain facts and carried deliberate news items to tarnish government’s image.  Shah has taken the so called biased coverage quite personally,” said a BJP MP close to Amit Shah.”

You don’t know Shah and Modi. If both are convinced that someone is playing the mischief and it has a hidden agenda than the duo would take a subtle way to settle the score. Look what happened to Advani. What happened to bureaucrats, the Sharma brothers of Gujarat? Where is Shashi Ruia now ? Where is Sanjay Joshi of RSS ? ” he added.

Now only on one count Vineet Jain can avoid the inevitable. In case Times Now is pursuing the agenda against  the government  at the behest of someone in the government, he may survive another day. Why Jealous Congress and AAP Crying Foul on Mega Rally on Their Turf ?

Why the jealous Congress and AAP crying foul on the success of Modi's mega rally on their own turf ?

The extravagant arrangements for the Sunday rally have already been questioned by the Congress and Aam Admi Party, when Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee head said that the expenditure exposes BJP's hypocrisy on issues of poverty, while AAP's leader Kejriwal  asked BJP to disclose the budget and source of funds for the rally. But other parties have always questioned the expenditure on Modi's events, including Modi's Sadbhavna fasts in 2011.

With the report of huge success  as visible from the clippings on the morning :

• Diplomats from various countries including China, Japan, Germany, South Africa, Congo, Peru and many others are watching the happenings curiously and many of them are clicking photographs of the crowd and the stage. ;
• A massive cut-out of Narendra Modi erected near the media enclosure greets thousands of visitors trying to sneak in ,
•  from early  morning people turned up in large numbers at Japanese Park, with a total of 11 gates for people to get in for  gathering of nearly half million,
•  though the venue currently packed half to capacity, but the crowd is expected to increase over the day as 3000 buses are expected to reach the venue ,
• Giant screens have been used to play out developments on the main dais and elsewhere at the venue ,
• Hundreds of fans with water sprinklers and large tents have been erected across the venue are keeping the crowds cool.

INDIA HONEST have  bold advice to the complaining political parties that :they should not be angry and worried as long as more money is spent for the welfare of common man , whether on the  road going to the meeting place or watching on fixed screens on  the road to their national leader, on whom they have huge hope; instead of the same money these ruling political party leaders accumulating in their black money chest or depositing in Swiss bank  accounts.

Why BJP’s PM Aspirant Modi Stands only for Development ?

Different political analyst, columnist, intelligentsia, social activist and many other active thinker's theories are being circulated to mass through the active print media and it needs a point to point close analysis for obtaining contrast views. This is an endeavour in this line just by initiating some comments with the idea that more comments will be forthcoming from the readers:

What BJP’s PM-aspirant stands for: Development or riot politics ?

For many, the answer to the above question would appear so obvious they would deem it stupid to even pose it. But since we as a nation have time and again displayed the collective stupidity necessary to reward communal politicking with votes, it might be a useful exercise—in the light of the recent events in western UP. to examine this question afresh. Narendra Modi’s supporters—at least those who claim to believe in religious equality—have always held that the 2002 Gujarat riots are in the past, that Modi has abandoned it for a developmental agenda, and that we too should move on. This is argued, why this is a self-serving delusion . The recent events in UP’s Muzaffarnagar are significant in that they offer an unambiguous answer, if any was needed, to the question of whether Modi 2.0 is the same as the Modi of 2002.

One panel reader argues : Will you equate Narendra Modi and Azam Khan on the same platform ? If yes , are not you equating Sardar Patel and Mohammad Jinah on the same stage before India's independence ? Both were nationalist and both were religious. Again you look in the past and present; and find the status of the minorities in India and Pakistan , you will get an answer and a conclusion.

Second do anyone find the circumstances of Godhra riot and  Muzaffarnagar Riot same ?

The history which at least I know, there is no parallel comparison to 2002 Godhra riot, except the 1984 Sikh killings. Both happened in such a short time with so much ferocity; and so much anger and hate generated in such a short time that the ruling government's leadership had very little time to visulise it and tackle it. Moreover you cannot always curb peoples anger with gun power. Yes this argument  does not suggest that it could not have been dealt in a better way ? So also you cannot  simply blame the governing head that; what resulted was due to his or her ulterior motives. A sudden fire spark can cause a major loss of property and lives or can be extinguished without any big loss, thus you must have to judge the circumstances also, before throwing the quantum of blame on any one. Yes both 1984 or 2002 could have been handled differently.

But except these two riots, all other riots were completely different, when the grudge, anger, hate and preparations were running for a period of time. Here the governing authorities had some time to effect their open or hidden wishes, to take a neutral or biased view. Do you still believe Muzaffarnagar riot was not a fixed game ? I and most will surprise if you say no.

And this is the pathetic story of India; alike the self serving politicians, the intelligentsia also remains in denial mode, afraid of speaking the truth in open.

The original theme of the writer about Modi is described as : Modi’s rise within the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national hierarchy culminated with his selection as it's prime ministerial candidate. His journey to the top has been parallelled by a similar rise in the frequency of communal incidents, especially in north India. Between 2009 and March 2013, UP., the state with the highest number of parliamentary seats (80), witnessed 482 incidents of communal violence, “the highest for any state in the country—resulting in 105 deaths”. According to several reports, there is every indication that the Muzaffarnagar conflagration was a “made-to-order riot” aimed at polarising the electorate along religious lines. This would engineer the precipitation of the BJP and the Samajwadi Party’s core vote banks around the majority and minority religious identities respectively. (one could not justify; whom to name first BJP or SP : most had practiced as an habit to blame BJP first )

Even if  one  agrees  with  the above theory, do anyone among the political analyst, columnist, intelligentsia, social activist have the guts to speak the truth in open, no ? Most will take excuse of no proof or absence of information, but still they can identify the communal among the so called secular lot, because they treat themselves as modern and non fundamentalist,or only because they are so much secured that may not have to face what the forty thousand displaced villagers living in  Muzaffarnagar camps have to or the displaced Khasmiri Pandits had to for so many years. Instead of blaming one should accept that BJP’s PM  aspirant  Modi stands only  for  "Development" .

On the Sidelines of Rahul vs Modi Contest

By now it has become a well known fact that the Congress will only be shooting itself in the foot if it lets the election race turn into a one-on-one contest. But they have already committed the mistake in their fierce endeavour to stop the nomination wave of Narendra Modi  in May June this year, by regularly targeting him in all their submission, converting Modi as the single challenger to Rahul Gandhi.

More and more "media" tit bits are thrown as the election comes closer, exposing the change and swing in mood in the tussle between the two heavyweights, that is closely monitored :

Now the Congress party has to change the stance, from communal or secular platform of fight, the war is to be fought on development platform, and here Congress might have to try to debunk Modi’s claims of development like they have argued in the past. The party has repeatedly accused Modi of failing to look beyond Gujarat and being too full of his Gujarat success story. Congress party has been in power for two consecutive terms after having pushing NDA to the door, the Congress can also question Modi and BJP’s efficiency in running a country.

But as and when the poll battle becomes a Modi-Rahul face-off or a Modi-Congress PM hopeful face-off, it will become political suicide for the Congress. Because except Rahul's contribution to the party organisational restructuring, he has nothing else as concrete achievements to show, that he can take a fair claim on.

There is no evidence that Rahul Gandhi  takes active part in policy-making and policy-implementation. Even in the Lok Sabha, while Sonia Gandhi pushed the Food Security Bill with a hasty speech, Rahul Gandhi was seen and heard nowhere. Even outside the House, Rahul’s promotion of the Food Bill has been mostly blank assumptions that don’t stand on facts for support.

Rahul Gandhi's speeches sound more like college union election addresses than something meant to influence the most important polls in the country. Finally, Rahul can’t claim to have run anything with any success. And that clearly makes bigger sense that Rahul will only be doing Congress party a favour by not declaring himself its prime ministerial candidate.

At the same time the youth and development hope juggernaut called Narendra Modi, has gathered momentum needs to be looked at seriously by his opposition, the Congress. To remain in intellectual denial, claiming that Modi has no resonance in the southern states of India or in Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra and the Northeast, will allow him a free run, and not necessarily as the face of the BJP. Thus a fighter and doer Modi will be imagined to take the role of a ‘saviour’.

This time the general elections could well defy the predictable parameters of the national vote. The polls may be an aberration in the sense that the election would not pay any heed to the factors as done in past but swiftly change to new role of youth unconcerned with caste and religion. The media are hysterical in their superficial support of Modi and his rhetoric. ‘Debate’ on talk shows continues to insult the intelligence of viewers, yes  Modi  supporters has deftly used this sub-standard discourse by the ruling party's arrogant spokespersons, to his advantage.

Will Digvijaya Singh Now Join Hands with his bete noire BJP ?

It is no coincidence that young performing political leaders are replacing the old guards on vital stage of state and central politics. Omar Abdulla, Rahul Gandhi, Sukhvir Singh Badal, Narendra Modi, Mamta Banerjee, Jyotiraditya Scindia, have stepped into the shoes of their old seniors like Manmohan Singh, Farook Abdulla, Prakash Singh Badal, Lal Krishna Adwani, Digvijaya Singh and many old guards.

21st century has a new wave of fresh air in the support of young Turk performers, blended with the experience and guidance of old warhorses. A forty year old economist Raghuram Rajan is better suited to head the central bank RBI then any near sixty, retiring secretary from finance department, but still Amritya Sen or Bhagvati or Rangarajan's advices are more valuable for guidance purpose .

The wise like Manmohan Singh, L K Adwani, Sonia Gandhi , Farook Abdulla relinquish their decorated post gladly, but few power hungry like Digvijaya Singh, Ajit Jogi  will never be able to read between the lines and thus are forcibly discarded.

An outspoken or rather foul spoken General Secretary of Congress has been ousted from his power post for a decade, but his desire for that has not been lost, for that he always prefers to be in the media lime light, more often for wrong reasons or even attempts to anti national mutterings such as :

A day after Congress disowned Shakeel Ahmed's statement in the tweet alleging that the banned terror outfit "Indian Mujahideen was formed after the Gujarat riots" that stirred a political storm; but media glare happy Digvijaya Singh said, "Ahmed was an "experienced" leader and "he must have made the comments after proper thought".

Digvijaya Singh had earlier doubted over the authenticity of Batala House encounter in which Delhi Police decorated officer M.C. Sharma was killed and even he termed the encounter as fake and demanded for judicial enquiry into it. Singh refused to take back his words even after the Delhi sessions court judgement in which court hold Indian Mujahideen operative Shahzad Ahmed guilty of killing inspector MC Sharma and termed 2008 Batala House encounter as genuine. The judgement has once again exposed the habit of Congress general secretary to give controversial and irresponsible statement.

Digvijaya Singh targeted Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and his BJP colleagues  saying they badly needed "lessons in good behaviour and social etiquette" and joked on Narendra Modi for  making his speeches from the replicas of the Red Fort rather than the real one.

Showing his character Digvijaya Singh targeted columnist Shobha De for her remark that many political leaders are as 'sadak chaap', Singh noted (or accepted what he is destined to ? ) that the remark does at least appreciate the fact that politicians have "their foot firmly on ground".

Digvijaya Singh had been getting unfair treatment at the hands of party men and specially a much younger Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is being portrayed as the Congress' chief minister probable. Earlier this month, the Scindia faction organised a rally in Morena where Digvijaya Singh was kept waiting and sweating profusely on the dais, for more than two hours by the Union minister of state.

But on last evening, the Congress finally signalled closer of  its doors on AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh,  even denying him entry into the state PCC conference hall for the press conference called by Union minister of state Jyotiraditya Scindia and Mohan Prakash, Sanjay Nirupam, Kantilal Bhuria,Ajay Singh.

Digvijaya Singh and his supporters stood outside, banging the doors for nearly 20 minutes, making desperate calls from their mobile phones asking Congress workers inside to open the door. The banging on the door continued, but Scindia refused to buzz and asked Congress workers not to let in whoever was knocking. Senior Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam also instructed not to allow him. Yes, Scindia  said to press there was no factional rivalry within the party, echoing the high command's view on Digvijaya Singh .

Even highly desperate Dig sir tried to gain entry through the back door, that was also jammed and then the miffed Dig sir turned to the elevator but that was also shut on second floor. An infuriated and irate Dig sir and his supporters  walked out of the state Congress office. Feeling hurt and humiliated, he climbed into his SUV and left the Congress office with his supporters following in a cavalcade.

Humiliated  time and again by the Congress party and their leaders, what the frustrated  Dig sir will do now ?

Will Digi sir join hands now with his bete noire BJP ?
